Regina, May 4, 2016 - The Conseil des Écoles Fransaskoises offers its sincere congratulations to Donna Lajeunesse, the new president of the Association locale des enseignantes et enseignants fransaskois (ALEF), elected at the annual meeting on April 21 and 22 in Saskatoon.
"Mrs. Lajeunesse is well known to Regina's Francophone school community," noted Francophone School Board President André Denis. "Ms. Lajeunesse taught for several years at École Monseigneur de Laval (Elementary Pavilion), where she currently is Assistant Principal."
"Like a great many of our staff, she is a credit to her profession. Conseil Scolaire Fransaskois trustees join me in wishing her a productive term of office for members of the Association, and also rewarding for her professionally," Denis added.
CSF trustees also want to add their voices to those teachers who have celebrated the contribution of many of their own at the ALEF conference banquet. On that occasion, veteran educator and teacher at the École Mathieu de Gravelbourg and École Beau Soleil, Denis Chevrier, was named the recipient of the Onesimus-Dorval Award, recognizing all his work as an outstanding Fransaskois educator.
The ALEF banquet also lended itself to naming the Dubois-Leblanc Award laureate, awarded this year to Jacinthe Deblois, in recognition of the quality of her commitment to professional development in Fransaskois schools.
ALEF also honored five retired CÉF teachers : Jacqueline Denis, Monica Ferré, Sister Viviane Gareau, Céline Grenier and Émile Gaudet. The CSF's President thanked them for their loyal service.
André Denis added, in conclusion, that the Conseil des écoles fransaskoises intends to continue its efforts to work collaboratively with ALEF in the coming years.
