Regina, March 14, 2017 - The Conseil Scolaire Fransaskois (CSF) -- Saskatchewan's Francophone board of trustees -- is opposed to any budget cuts imposed by the provincial government for fiscal year 2017-2018.
"The Conseil des écoles fransaskoises (CÉF) has done its homework and raised its financial situation in recent years through considerable sacrifices," said CSF Chair Christiane Guérette.
"Our schools are facing major infrastructure challenges. In particular, Francophone communities in Regina, Saskatoon and Prince Albert are in dire need of new additional schools. Asking the CÉF to deal with cuts such as those envisaged by the provincial government would have a significant impact on our students. We object, "concludes Guérette.
The CSF passed a resolution opposing any additional cuts in the 2017-2018 provincial budget during the special session held on March 1 in Regina. In so doing, the CÉF adds its voice to that of the other school boards in the province, which also face the threat of the government cut.

A first-language school today, a bilingual Francophone for life! - The Conseil des écoles fransaskoises (CÉF) is home to 1,900 preschool to Grade 12 students in 14 elementary and secondary schools across the province. Financed by the Ministry of Education, it is the only French as a first language school board in Saskatchewan.
