  • 2016-2017 School Year Welcome Message: from the desk of CÉF joint co-executive directors

Dear Parents,

Let us welcome you back on occasion of the CÉF's inauguration of the 2016-2017 school year. You will find that our school staff is genuinely involved in the educational mission of the CÉF, which is committed to the academic success of your child. In our schools, you will meet other parents like you who want the best education for their children, not only in French first language, but also the very best education available anywhere in Saskatchewan.

The considerable reduction of the CÉF's long-term debt and the adoption by the Francophone school Board of a balanced budget in 2016-2017, will allow the organization to begin the school year in a context that will better enable it to fulfill its mission than it has been in the recent past.

To get there, the CÉF has staffed its school with teachers who strive for excellence daily. They are the first intervenors in the academic success of each CÉF student. They are supported by a school principal who can count on a variety of resources devoted to meeting the special needs of all students.

New for 2016-2017, CÉF schools will be able to count on the contribution of 8 full time equivalent (FTE) positions in an auxiliary teaching capacity. The educational services staffing levels will remain the same as last year, with 18 FTE. The Fransaskois preschool program is staffed with fully qualified educators. The CÉF has also added a new cultural animator position.

Inspired by its new strategic plan, the CÉF will:

  • Continue ongoing numeracy and literacy initiatives
  • Review the aspired student achievement profile and implement the appropriate measures to reach objectives
  • Prioritize and implement the recommendations stemming from the early childhood review
  • Launch an initiative to chronicle the journey of Saskatchewan's Francophone school system
  • Continue the development of the succession plan within the organization
  • Deepen the efforts in fostering increased valuation of French language competencies among students
  • Leverage partnerships with the community
  • Review information technology processes
  • Mount new student recruitment initiatives
  • Mount new workforce talent recruitment initiatives
  • Revitalize relationships with local school councils
  • Increase resources allocated to special services, thanks to efficiencies achieved though administrative services optimization
  • Reduce administrative services costs

The considerable reduction of the CÉF's long-term debt and the adoption by the Francophone school Board of a balanced budget in 2016-2017, will allow the organization to begin the school year in a context that will better enable it to fulfill its mission than it has been in the recent past.

With your support as a parent, the CÉF aims to infuse new energy in YOUR institution -- one designed to meet the educational needs of the francophone community. We remain most sincerely at your service!

Sincerely,

Bernard Roy
Executive Director of Education
