Updated plan to resume CÉF school activities

Dear parents and guardians,

In the light of the most recent information communicated by provincial authorities, CÉF has updated its Restart Plan. This update includes additional details as to guidelines and measures put in place to reduce contamination in schools and CÉF offices.

You will also notice that CÉF offers families who might be unable to reintegrate their child into the physical school environment for medical or other reasons, the option of proceeding with their learning activities in virtual mode.

This update reflects today’s reality and favours a preventive approach. Please take the time to familiarize yourself with the new measures below which are included in the Restart Plan.

We all operating in an environment that is affected by factors over which we have little control and that is changing at a breakneck pace.

SCHOOL AND HEAD OFFICE REGULAR ACTIVITIES
RESTART PLAN
CHANGES TO THE AUGUST 3, 2020 VERSION

1. CÉF requires that all staff members wear a protective mask. The mask will be provided by the CÉF.
2. CÉF asks all those who use and visit CÉF premises wear a protective mask.
3. Wearing a protective mask is compulsory for students in Grades 4 to 12 at school and on the bus. Parents will be encouraged to purchase masks for their child and will need to ensure that they are replaced / washed regularly.
4. Body temperature monitoring terminals will be installed in each school and in the offices. The temperature of students and staff will be taken before entering schools and CÉF offices.
5. Measures will be put in place to ensure appropriate physical distancing between people is maintained. Schools will adapt this distancing rule to the various situations they will encounter.
6. Individuals returning from a trip overseas must adhere to a 14-day self isolation period before reporting to the school and / or office.
7. As of September 1, 2020, people returning from an out-of-province trip must adhere to a 14-day self isolation period before reporting to the school and / or office.
8. The food prepared by students within the context of the nutrition class may be consumed by them but should not be offered for consumption outside that setting.
9. Extracurricular activities and other provincial gatherings will be postponed. A review of this rule will be carried out periodically.
10. Regarding recess or movements within the school, students will be subject to podding. Procedures will be put in place to limit contacts between students who are not part of the same pod.
11. All CÉF students must pursue learning activities and attend their classes in face-to-face or virtual mode.
12. Kindergarten to Grade 3 students unable to attend school will be offered educational activities aimed at ensuring that essential content is learned.
13. All Grade 4 to 12 classes will be available in virtual mode. Parental supervision will be essential to the success of young people's learning.
